The Vivo X70 Pro+ is the new premium smartphone model of the Vivo family. The model was officially released in 2021. The smartphone is positioned as a flagship, top-of-the-line, premium model for people who prefer to use extra-class gadgets.
The smartphone does look premium, expensive and impressive. But if you take it in your hand, the impression is somewhat spoilt. Alas, it is impossible not to conclude that, to put it mildly, the gadget’s manufacturer has some strange ideas about ergonomics. While the smartphone, which has a thickness of 8.9 mm and weighs 213 grams, is quite massive for such devices, it “sits” very uncomfortably in the hand. The reason: very narrowed sides and curved edges. This design was common until recently, but many smartphone manufacturers have abandoned it in favor of more user-friendly options. Why the Vivo brand released a flagship model with such a significant design flaw is a big question. However, in terms of ergonomics, this flaw is not the only one. The highly protruding module, in which the rear cameras are built in, does not allow you to work comfortably with the device when it is lying on the table or other surface.
Also surprising is the manufacturer’s use of an optical fingerprint scanner. While it has long been considered good practice to use an ultrasonic scanner in premium models, allowing recognition of the fingerprint even if the hands are wet.
The smartphone is designed for two Nano-SIM cards. As for the memory card, there is no space for it in the device, we will have to settle for internal memory (there are modifications for 256 and 512 gigabytes).
Strangely enough, this flagship also does not support eSIM, and there is no audio output for wired headphones.
As for the amount of RAM, the device, like the amount of internal memory, comes in two versions: with 8 gigabytes and 12 gigabytes of RAM.
The dust- and waterproof housing, which is manufactured in accordance with the IP68 standard, is available to consumers in three colour variants: the classic black version as well as in blue and orange.
The 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440×3200 offers very good brightness and contrast. The maximum refresh rate is 120Hz.
Users are offered three profiles: ‘Standard’, ‘Professional’ and ‘Bright’. Experts recommend using the “Professional” profile, as the other two sin with oversaturated and unnatural colours.
The smartphone has a Samsung Isocell GN1 main camera with a Zeiss lens and Dual Pixel PDAF phase autofocus. The camera shoots at a resolution of 12.5MP by default. A 50-megapixel resolution module is available if desired. However, photos taken with the default specifications of the device are much better in terms of quality than those taken with the high-resolution module. The pictures taken with the main 12.5-megapixel camera are considerably more lush and contrasty. These are truly flagship level camera shots.
The camera is also very good when shooting at night. But in this case you should take into account that the wide-angle module produces in the dark, not a very good picture with poor detail. The device’s selfie camera is also praiseworthy, despite some tendency to overshadowing.
The Vivo X70 Pro+ supports all current mobile and wireless standards, as well as NFC.
