Why Beats headphones aren’t as bad as many people say

Beats headphones are one of those products about which it is difficult to find neutral or mixed reviews. Very often they are either lavishly praised or also scolded. For example, they are scolded for their lack of reliability. In particular, at one unfortunate moment, the cable that connects the headphones can pull apart, causing the contact to break, and you have to go to the shop for new headphones. Moreover, this can happen about six months after the purchase. There have been precedents.

But let’s not jump to conclusions. If we calmly analyze and compare Beats with AirPods, Sony, and Fiio, we can come to the conclusion that Beats is not only a device to be scolded for some shortcomings of its creators, but also worthy of praise for certain merits. 

AirPods are headphones for everyday use, they give good and rich sound, but they have problems with detail. Fiio FA9 – headphones for audiophiles, providing colorful sound, allowing you to enjoy all the semitones and nuances. In the same category are the Sony MDR 1AM2 headphones for quiet and thoughtful listening to serious music, creating a unique effect of presence in the concert hall. 

And the Beats Solo 3 do very well against this backdrop. The sound is bright and full-bodied. And what is especially pleasant is that the lower register is very well worked out, when, in contrast to cheap headphones, the bass doesn’t turn into an ugly rumble, but the whole texture of the instruments is reproduced perfectly. That is why these headphones are very suitable for listening not only to modern music, but also for classic rock, when you want to enjoy the beauty and texture of the sound.

Of course, it would be strange, to say the least, to expect the Beats Solo 3 to have a concert hall feel, but for listening to good music they are quite suitable. However, it is worth noting that a true music-lover’s “arsenal” must consist of at least three pairs of different headphones – listening to each kind of music requires certain characteristics of the device, and there is no and cannot be a universal solution in this case.

As for the drawbacks, first of all, the use of microUSB connector in the Beats headphones should be noted. This does not give the user a sense of reliability, because the headphones themselves are not made of premium materials.

But the battery life of the device is its undoubted advantage. The manufacturer’s claim of 20 hours of operation without recharging is an excellent indicator.

Another advantage is the quick synchronization with various devices. For instance, outdoors the headphones can be paired with your iPhone, but at home they are instantly recognised by your MacBook. By the way, the headphones work perfectly together with Android mobile devices.

It should also be noted that the Beats Solo 3 is very lightweight, so it won’t feel almost on your head. For an over-the-ear headset that is very important.

Therefore it would be highly unfair to consider these headphones as a complete failure. They do have their merits, and there are bound to be users who appreciate them.
